What is live leak?

LiveLeak was a video sharing website known for hosting a wide range of content, including news-related footage, war and conflict videos, and other types of media that might not be allowed on more traditional sites like YouTube. It was founded in 2006 by Hayden Hewitt and the team behind the website Ogrish.com. LiveLeak gained notoriety for hosting graphic and controversial content, often focusing on real-world events and raw footage that was typically unedited.

The platform distinguished itself by aiming to provide uncensored footage of events from around the world, often prioritizing freedom of speech and press. Over the years, LiveLeak became a go-to source for users seeking footage of current events, particularly those involving geopolitical issues, protests, and other significant happenings.

In May 2021, LiveLeak was shut down permanently. Its closure was announced by co-founder Hayden Hewitt, who cited that it was time for the website to "move on" after 15 years of operation. The website was replaced by a new project called ItemFix, which focuses more on general video and image sharing without the intense or graphic focus that LiveLeak was known for.
